Diutan gum is a high molecular weight polysaccharide gum synthesized by the fermentation process with strains of Sphingomonas sp with carbohydrates such as sugar, bean flour etc. is no block when dissolving in the water, can be widely used in cosmetics and other industrial field. It's a high efficiency, pseudoplastic viscosifier and suspension agent used in Cosmetics and other general industrial uses.

Main functions and characteristics:
Main function: Highly efficient thickening, pigment/particle suspension, emulsion stabilization, and improvement of application smoothness (pseudo-plastic shear thinning).
Advantage: Resistant to high salt/high alcohol/high pH (3-11), resistant to high temperature shear, viscosity recovery upon salt addition, and a refreshing skin feel without false slip or stickiness.
Main application scenarios in cosmetics:

1.Color cosmetics: foundation, mascara, eyeshadow. They use their suspending properties to prevent pigments from settling and clumping.

2.Shampooing products: Shampoo, body wash, facial cleanser, resistant to anionic surfactants and hard water, maintaining stable foam and viscosity.

3.Skin care and sun protection: Lotion, cream, sunscreen, compatible with high oil phase and physical sunscreens (such as zinc oxide), enhances system stability.

4.Special Formula: High alcohol content products (such as aftershave lotion, toner) and cationic conditioning agent systems maintain transparency and stability.
Usage Suggestions and Precautions:

Typical Additive Concentration: 0.1% - 0.5% can achieve significant thickening and stabilization effects. Adjust the specific concentration according to the target viscosity.
Dispersion Method: Requires rapid stirring to disperse in the aqueous phase (can pre-mix glycerin/multifunctional alcohols to prevent agglomeration), and after swelling, form a transparent gel network; resistant to acid but not suitable for long-term storage at extremely low pH (<2).

Collaborative Combinations: Often combined with xanthan gum, cellulose gum to optimize the skin feel, or with fatty alcohols/non-ionic surfactants to construct a gel network for special formulations such as perming.

This ingredient aligns with the "Pure Beauty" trend, replacing some synthetic polymers, and is widely used in international brand and high-end line formulations.
