Description
Sodium formate is a high-purity, dry crystalline organic salt used to formulate brine used in drilling, workover and completion operations which require densities ranging from 8.4 to 11.0 lb/gal. Sodium formate is a white crystalline powder with water absorbing performance and slight formic acid odor. It is soluble in water and glycerol, slightly soluble in ethanol.

Application
Sodium formate fluids are excellent shale stabilizers for water-sensitive clay/shale formations and clay-containing sandstones.
