Viscosifier

Welan gum

Welan Gum is an anionic polysaccharide with excellent thermal stability and retention of viscosity at elevated temperatures. Welan Gum exhibits superior temperature stability over 200° F in fresh water and low pH fluids. Welan Gum is a tan colored dry powder with a density of 26.25 lbs/ft³. Welan Gum is used in various industries where high molecular weight biopolymers are useful.

New Welan gum
is a biopolymer produced by Oceanview Chemical, which is used in Concrete, self-leveling, plaster, cement grinding aid and oil drilling, well completion with high suspension and high stabilization. New welan gum has better pseudoplasticity, high viscosity in slow-speed shearing rate, it is a polymer rheological regulator used for oil drilling and well completion. In a high temperature condition the viscosity do not change with the temperature changes.

Application & Advantages

Application:
Welan gum biopolymer is a high efficiency, pseudoplastic viscosifier and suspension agent used in water based drilling, workover and completion fluids. Welan gum is also used in hydraulic fracturing fluids and cementing grouts, foundary coating, pigment suspensions, cement or concrete viscosifier, tire sealant and paint thickeners.

Advantages:
High-preformance viscosity improver
High viscosity under low concentration
High viscosity under slow speed shearing rate
Pseudoplasticity thinning under high shear
Good stability in high salt and high temperature condition
Excellent water solubility
Good water holding capacity

Package

Dissolution
The dissolution of the product depends on the medium and the process: it is improved by heat-treatment (time, temperature), shear-stress (propeller, exchanger, homogenizer).  A complete dissolution can be obtained in cold conditions.

Packaging & Storage
Welan gum is packaged in 50lb or 55lb plastic lined 4layer paper bags and shipped via an approved common carrier.

DOT classification – Non Hazardous.

Shelf Life
Welan gum has a shelf life of 24 months from date of manufacture when stored in a clean dry area.
